Peru seeks to position its fruits and vegetables in Europe

According to PromPeru, Peru will be the star of the MacFrut 2016 fair, an important fair that will be held from September 14 to the 16 in Rimini, Italy, and that specialises in fresh fruit and vegetables, because it was designated a partner country.

The Commission for the Promotion of Peruvian Exports and Tourism (PromPeru) stated that Peru was seeking to position its fruits and vegetables in the European market.

Participating from this privileged position is an excellent opportunity to increase the Peruvian supply in the European market. It is also in line with the food industry's strategy to enter new markets and consolidate the country's exportable supply of Peruvian food through trade promotion events, such as fairs, business meetings, and trade missions, among others.

14 Peruvian companies from the regions of Ica, Piura, La Libertad, Lambayeque, Lima, Arequipa, Huanuco, Junin and Cajamarca, will participate in the fair showcasing a wide range of products, such as blueberries, organic bananas, citrus, asparagus, mangoes, avocados, and grapes, among others.

Business worth 15 million dollars
According to Promperu, the Peruvian delegations are expected to achieve trade commitments worth more than $15 million for the next 12 months.

The organiser of the fair, Cesena Fiera, highlighted the importance of fruits and vegetables in the development of Peru and its global leadership as a producer and exporter of some foods, such as artichokes, organic bananas, citrus, asparagus, mangoes, avocados, table grapes, and small fruits.

MacFrut 2016 will feature more than 1,000 exhibitors and will be attended by approximately 39,000 visitors from Europe, Asia, America, and Africa.
