China import: Australian oranges on sale, avocado prices down

The weather in the Pearl River Delta this week is hot. The most important fruit varieties imported are: cherries, oranges, avocados and dragon fruit.

Oranges sell well this week and are going up in price. Cases of 18kg are sold for 340 RMB. The price for South African oranges has already increased to 200 RMB. South African grapefruit follows the same trend. This weeks price keeps increasing to 160 RMB.

It's worth mentioning that the Australian orange variety 2PH already went on sale this week. The price of the first batch from the real brand is similar to last year's, more than 500 RMB. Other brands are priced at more than 400 RMB.

As oranges keep selling well on the market, avocados are going down a little in price. A case of 30 avocados went down from 280-300 RMB last week to 260-270 RMB this week. The main reason is that qualitative goods are few on the market and the demand is stable. The same is happening for American cherries, where some varieties are still floating around 330 RMB. Good brands like Skeenaze have a stable price at 400 RMB. The cherries are still mainly transported by air. Also Canadian cherries are starting to reach the market. They are about 30 RMB more expensive than American cherries.
