Food trucks in Augsburg, Stuttgart, Berlin, Hamburg, Dortmund and Cologne
North Carolina sweet potatoes on tour in Germany
Consumers have the opportunity to taste different variations and learn more about North Carolina sweet potatoes during several events in Germany this year.
From 6 July to 10 August 2016 great tasting actions will take place in large retail chains. These shop-in-shop actions give customers the opportunity to find out more about the background, harvest, the cultivation and preparation of sweet potatoes.
The steadily growing export of sweet potatoes says a lot. In 2014 39,761 metric tons of sweet potatoes, with a value of 17.4 million Euros, were shipped to Europe from the USA. This is an increase in volume of 42% compared to the previous year.
The orange root vegetable grows in popularity with the German consumer, and with good reason: the sweet potatoes are healthy, versatile and have a unique taste.
In addition to the standard tasting in supermarkets food trucks will be used to attract younger customers in 6 large German cities. The food truck tour started at the Street Food Festival in Augsburg (6 to 8 July 2016) and will be followed by stops in Stuttgart, Berlin, Hamburg and Dortmund. The last stop will be the chocolate museum in Cologne (26 and 27 July 2016).
