Peruvian avocados arrive in Shenzhen Port for first time

On July 5th, 20 tonnes of fresh Peru avocados arrived in Shenzhen Dachan Bay port. This is the first time that Shenzhen port imported Peruvian avocados, with a value of 51,500 US dollars.

Known as the fourth biggest avocado cultivation country, Peru has over 3,000 hectares' growing area for avocados. Moreover, it now has surpassed South Africa and becomes the 2nd biggest avocado exporting country, just behind Mexico. In May, China signed a Protocol on Phytosanitary requirements with, which signifies the official market access for Peruvian avocados to Chinese markets.
