Afterwards they have the opportunity as a consumer to do a melon cocktail masterclass.
Grower and chain characteristics
The focus was on Galia and especially on the newest varieties Verdasco (harvest Mid June –Mid July) and Robredo (harvest Mid July – Mid August) have both, as well as an excellent yield, a resistance against powdery mildew and aphids.
Especially the aphids resistance has the opportunity to be a “gamechanger” because it will simplify and reduce the chemical crop protection.
From the chain perspective, both varieties Verdasco and Robredo are really interesting.
The chain partners liked the unique mix of excellent taste, good yield and resistance package. It will help them to reduce the crop protection treatments and the MRL’s in the harvested melons.
