SIPO: the Friggitelli Peppers of Verdure di Romagna harvest has begun

SIPO announces that the friggitelli pepper season has started, which are included in the Verdure di Romagna line. The vegetables are grown on a farm specialized in the cultivation of these peppers, in San Mauro Pascoli (Emilia Romagna, Italy).

Stefano Pazzagli, SIPO's head technician highlights: "The harvest, which has just started, began with the transplanting carried out in the middle of last April. We are a bit behind on our harvest schedule due to the weather conditions in April which caused a 10-day delay. Regarding price dynamics, until last week the peppers from the regions of Lazio and Campania were priced from 1.20 to 1.50 a kg at the farm. For our local ones, in the next few days we will see what price can be negotiated".

Friggitelli Peppers are little green sweet peppers, not hot, which are grown all year round in the Mediterranean basin and SIPO cultivates them in the Romagna region in the province of Rimini from June to October.

They can be prepared in a number of different ways, in a pan, in the oven with tomatoes, stuffed, with potatoes and many other vegetables. Friggitelli Peppers have the same composition and properties as peppers. They are rich in mineral salts and vitamins, plus they contain various amino acids. Moreover, they have few calories and thanks to their content of Vitamin C they fight free radicals and their fiber content makes them an ideal food for those who follow a low calorie diet.

Verdure di Romagna is SIPO's line which aims to promote the vegetables of the Romagna territory. Along with friggitelli peppers, this line includes a great number of vegetables typical of this territory: celery hearts, carrots, cardoons, pumpkin flowers, savoy cabbage and black cabbage, green celery stalks, fennel, agretti, chili peppers, potatoes, coppery onions and white radish.

There is an image of the Emilia Romagna region on its distinctive packaging, appropriately chosen to promote its culture and the great enogastronomic tradition of the second Italian region for vegetable cultivation. The vegetables are available in every package size modern distribution can offer. Sales start in the appropriate season, according to the productive cycle so as to preserve the ecosystem and the agricultural supply chain.
