Boost for Hungarian MSP's with international potential

The core mission of the Hungarian National Trading House is to help small and medium-sized Hungarian enterprises expand their export activities, broaden their business networks and promote competitive Hungarian products and services. The company is in daily contact with over 3,000 small and medium sized Hungarian companies, who show potential for international success.

"We accompany our partners through the entire commercial process, from finding basic information about the market in the country they would like to enter, along with obtaining the necessary export licences or certification through exploring available logistic options, including follow up after the transaction has concluded. Entrepreneurs are given the opportunity to be present at major international trade fairs and we also organise training sessions through our Export Academy to help them operate smoothly in external markets." shared Hungarian National Trading House CEO, Zsanett Ducsai-Olah.

European Market
The primary market for Hungarian fruit and vegetables is Western Europe, especially Germany, which receives a quarter of Hungary's fruit and vegetable exports. Austria, Poland, Romania, France and the UK are also important export markets.

"Europe has expressed the most interest in Hungarian apples and apple juice concentrate, as well as sour cherries, potatoes, onions, peppers and asparagus. Our Hungarian food producers all comply fully with international quality standards." said Ducsai-Olah.

Hungary’s primary export market is the European Union, but the Trading House is working on facilitating Hungarian SMEs’ entry to markets beyond the EU. The company has trade representation in almost forty countries to date, with plans to open more offices around the world, in keeping with the government’s external policy of the opening up to the East and South.

Further afield

Outside of Europe, the geographical distance from Hungary to the Far East and South-East Asia brings its share of challenges for the export of fresh fruit and vegetables. Currently, most of the Hungarian fruit and vegetable trade is being done primarily with the Middle East, especially Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates.

"We continue to seek new ways for fresh Hungarian fruit and vegetables to reach markets in the Far East and South-East Asia. We have good references in the region, having concluded several successful transactions in the food sector with our partners in China and Mongolia. As a result, Hungarian food producers have gained the reputation of being reliable and having good quality food products." concludes Ducsai-Olah.

The Hungarian National Trading House has dedicated trading houses in almost 40 countries on 4 continents and a further 18 offices located in the Carpathian Basin. As a result, the group has an extensive network of international contacts and receive country and region-specific information on current demand. In addition, with their presence, they are able to gain insight into the specifics of the market, enabling them to provide more efficient support to Hungarian SMEs in their external market activities.
