“Production packaging machinery and required materials”

Sorma Group was previously in the news mostly because of its new developments in the field of innovative fresh produce packaging concepts. The new packaging is unique, in particular because Sorma produces both the (packaging) machinery and the materials needed for these machines.

Besides this (new) machinery, Sorma has not stopped (further) developing its other machinery. For example, the development of the new WD4-125 dynamic weigher, a rotating cup scale, particularly for citrus or other round products, which can be connected to up to six packaging machines. Characteristics of this new weigher are its high speed and better accuracy of weighing compared to other existing weighers. The reduced height of fall because of the carousel principle in the weigher makes it very suitable for fragile products. The saving of space in the packaging hall is also a plus. Furthermore, the weigher is flexible because different weights and different packagings can be packed at the same time. 

Another important development within the Sorma Group is the development of their private sorting machines from Spain. Spain is the country to test a new sorting machine and to introduce it. That this was successful is apparent from the sales. Since the introduction in 2015, more than 50 systems have been sold and installed. This Sormatech sorter was developed to complete the package. This rolling sorter very accurately weighs at high speeds. Because of the rotation the product can be carefully looked at with cameras. 

The Sorma Group produces sorters, weighers, packaging machinery, crate and box fillers, palletisers and entwining machines. This production is combined with multiple private packing material plants in Italy, Spain, Turkey and America. “It is because of the combination of our own machines and packing materials that we are fully involved in the success of our customer’s packaging,” says Romke van Velden of Sorma Benelux. 

Every year Sorma Group invests to further develop existing machines. From weighing, packing and automising of potatoes, onions, citrus and carrots to packing and processing more fragile products such as kiwi, stonefruit, tomatoes, apples, pears and plums.
