The National Fund for Job Training and Employment Promotion (Fondoempleo) will provide 3 million soles in financing for a project to improve the income of 200 avocado growers in the Ongoy district, province of Chincheros, Apurimac region.
This project, which has the support of the Sierra Exportadora program, was one of the winners of Fondoempleo's 15th Projects Contest.
The CEO of Sierra Exportadora, Alfonso Velasquez Tuesta, said the project, which will be developed in 36 months, will allow local producers to improve their skills pertaining their production systems, articulate their market, and get to know business management tools so they can have a more profitable production.
"The amount assigned by Fondoempleo supports the consolidation of the productive chain of avocado in Apurimac. Sierra Exportadora has been working on this chain through the Productive Municipality Strategy. Thus, we ensure having a comprehensive project from the field to the international market," said Velasquez.
