Strawberries of Europe promoted at Alimentaria

The promotional campaign Fresas de Europe (Strawberries of Europe) has attended the fair Alimentaria, held between 25 and 27 April in Barcelona. Visitors have been given the chance to learn first-hand about the benefits of strawberries and their versatility in the kitchen.

Throughout the day, the stand of Strawberries of Europe has been visited by the campaign's ambassadors: the singer Manuel Carrasco and the blogger and pastry chef Alma Obregon, who have highlighted the fruit's attributes and have persuaded visitors to consume them "because of their powerful flavour, high nutritional properties and their versatility." "Strawberries are one of the most versatile fruits because of their texture and colour, so it is a safe bet with both hot and cold recipes," stated Alma.

To demonstrate this, the stand has hosted a masterclass by blogger Alma Obregón, with the presence of Manuel Carrasco. A tasting was organised to allow visitors to become familiar with the most common commercial varieties, showing some creative tricks to cook them. The masterclass concluded with the preparation of a sweet recipe using strawberries for which several journalists and bloggers were invited to participate.
Furthermore, during the event, the consumers who have visited the stand of Fresas de Europa have had a chance to taste delicious recipes prepared with strawberries.

The European campaign "Fresas de Europa: Vive la Roja" is an initiative of INTERFRESA and has received support from the EU and the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture. It will be developed for a period of three years in three strategic markets: Spain, France and Germany.
