According to the project manager of the fair, Tonia Nikolaidou, the show has managed to bring together all decision makers of the sector, “including fruit and vegetable wholesalers, fruit importers, exporters and retailers. Also, significant has been the presence of supermarket chains from Greece and abroad, together with agriculturists and producers, as well as that of all professionals involved in the packaging and logistics sectors.”

She also explains that the event has offered both visitors and exhibitors the chance to reach trade agreements with the most significant fresh fruit and vegetable dealers from Europe, the Middle East and Asia. “Our country offers important advantages when compared to other EU countries, thanks to the existing climate conditions. We are also known for the quality of our primary production, as we are among the safest EU countries concerning the exceedance in pesticide residues of fruits and vegetables,” she affirms.

As far as the Greek professionals are concerned, she assures that the event allows them to meet Greek companies which operate mainly abroad and, in this way, gives them the chance to broaden their own field of activity. “Meanwhile, foreign professionals will be very likely to reach some really important agreements, especially if we consider that the Greek entrepreneurship is characterized by its know-how, experience and quality.”

In this sense, the "FRESKON Hosted Buyers" program has allowed over 200 buyers from more than 30 countries to do business, with hosted buyers from Europe, the Balkans, Russia, Ukraine, Asiatic countries and the UAE.

The show also served as stage for the 1st conference on Green Vegetables and Asparagus (22&23/4), which was organized in cooperation with FROUTONEA magazine, aiming to educate all Greek producers concerning the modern trends in green vegetables and asparagus, focusing on the importance of packaging, innovative forms of cultivation and consumer requirements.

“The speakers at the conference were top scientists and analysts from the most pioneering European countries in green vegetable cultivation. It was divided into 5 themes by the Vegetables Department of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, thus providing both exhibitors and visitors a very good opportunity to learn about the potentials of Greece in this product category, as well as to meet all remarkable producers of green vegetables in our country,” she explains.

Lastly, “FreshCon Market" (22&23/4) has aimed to become the business event of the year. “Under the organization of TIF-HELEXPO and with the strategic support of FROUTONEA magazine, it pursues to directly connect the big supermarket chains, which control a significant part of the distribution network, with the professional of the agricultural sector, thus providing the preconditions for direct deals. It is worth mentioning that the greatest supermarket chains in the Balkans (Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia, Ukraine, Croatia) have been present.
