Swiss Bio Development Holding invests in Bio Company Berlin
BDH (Bio Development Holding Switzerland) becomes a new shareholder of Bio Company in Berlin.
When counting the number of stores, BIO COMPANY Berlin is the third largest specialized organic retailer in Germany. Together with the Swiss Bio Development Holding the company increased their capital, the capital increase is counted from the start of the year. The Swiss invest their own money to further a healthy growth of the company and get a share of 39.9% in BIO COMPANY.
This should lead to a growing market of online sales, of course together with the classical expansion in selected areas of the German-speaking countries
“The increase in funds due to the capital injection means that we can develop in a free and enterprising spirit while cooperating with BDH means staying loyal to our values,” explain Georg Kaiser and Hubert Bopp-Kempf their choice for BDH. During the negotiations it became clear that a good relation is possible with the new investors.
The core statement of the BDH is: “Our investment in BIO COMPANY is part of developing retail expertise in our company, of course in addition to our current organic wholesale knowledge. Together with BIO COMPANY we can make excellent progress in developing our goals in the organic trade.”
The statement continues that the choice for BIO COMPANY was not only based on the possibility of reaching the intended targets but the commonly shared values were crucial too. In 2009 BDH started to look for companies, with strong identity such as BIO COMPANY, to develop their future, independent of major corporations.
Appointed to the new board of BIO COMPANY are: Georg Kaiser and Hubert Bopp-Kempf of BIO COMPANY and Marco Arduini with Markus Lüthi of BDH.
Since the autumn of 2010 BDH is majority shareholder with 75% in the Swiss AG/Seon. And in 2014 BDH became sole shareholder in Phönix a regional organic wholesaler in Hessen Germany. BDH is owned by three main shareholders who have shown long-term commitment and have considerable expertise in the organic trade.
