New HQ for Little Potato

The Little Potato Co., based in Canada, will build a $20 million U.S. headquarters office in DeForest after scouting communities across the Midwest and Northeast.

Little Potato, based in Alberta, Canada, sells its spuds in bags under brands including Baby Boomer and Blushing Belle in grocery stores. The company plans an early 2017 opening for a 130,000-square-foot facility in DeForest where it will process, wash and ship potatoes.

The DeForest facility will have 50 workers when it opens, but that could grow to 129 people once it is fully operational, according to a Thursday release from the Wisconsin Economic Development Corp.

Angela Santiago, Little Potato co-founder and president, said DeForest is close to key markets for the company.
