company officially passed to Erwin Tummers this year

Tummers celebrates 40th birthday

Some colleagues weren't even born when the Tummers business was started 40 years ago. 8 March 1976 was the day that Fons Tummers started working under the name 'Technisch Centrum Tummers'. With two employees in a garage building in Bergen op Zoom this small company takes care of repairs to machines in the local industry. In the later years, as a 'machine builder', a lot of creative trips were made to various industries. There was work in cockle washing, welding specialty, specialised washing installations for everything apart from the potato industry and even in the tobacco industry.

Now, 40 years later, this has grown to a full multinational with a strong name in the potato processing industry. Son and company manager, Erwin Tummers, is partially responsible for stabilising and raising the efficiency of the company and the continuity of the company 'Tummers Food Processing Solutions', which is part of the Tummers Group, a collective name for all Tummers companies with a variety of specialties in different machine industries. In March 2016 the company grew to 130 employees on 10,000 m2 under a roof in Hoogerheide and there is more good to come. There is hard work being done internally to a renewed spare parts/service department, R&D department and renewed systems for our engineering department.

Erwin and Fons Tummers

"Of course it isn't a real birthday. We will have to wait another 10 years for that, but we want to soak it up for a moment. It was and is a beautiful and special adventure with a lot of highs and now, after 40 years it is time for founder Fons Tummers to take a step back and make space for the new generation; last January Tummers was officially handed to son Erwin Tummers. Erwin has been working at Tummers for 28 years and has many trusted colleagues, as in many cases it is "once a Tummers heart, always a Tummers heart". He is enthusiastic and ready to take the same step with Tummers. "Keep an eye on our messages this year, as there will be more updates on developments in and outside Tummers, and also on the Open Days we plan to organise in 2017."
