"Pleasantly busy from day one"

VLAM looks back at Fruit Logistica 2016 with satisfaction

From the 3rd to the 5th of February the halls of the Messe Berlin were filled for the 24th edition of Fruit Logistica, the annual meeting point for the AGF sector. VLAM the Flemish Centre for Agro and Fishing Marketing, was present once again with 25 participating companies with a brand new stall.

Record amount of visitors

Around 2,891 stall holders, originating from 84 different countries, presented their full range of products and services for over 70,000 visitors from over 130 countries. The record amount of visitors is a milestone for the fair. Fruit Logistica remains the global leading event of fruit and vegetables.

The Belgian pavilion

The Belgian stall holders are looking back at the visitor figures with satisfaction. It was pleasantly busy in hall 6.2 from the first day. The fair participation provided quality contacts. Like every year there were fifteen Belgian fruit and vegetable export companies present at the VLAM stall: Bel'Export, Boussier/Belfrutex, Calsa/Weiss, DBS/DBS Agro, De Plecker-Lauwers, Demargro, Devos Group, Dries Sebrecht Fruit/DSF, Frans Michiels Belgium/FMB, Gemex, Nicolaï Fruit, Pacbelimex, Vanco Belgium, Vergro and Wouters Fruithandel. Veiling REO could also be found there.

The Belgian potato sector was represented by seven companies:Bart's Potato Company, Binst Breeding & Selection, Dauchy, De Aardappelhoeve, Pomuni, RTL Patat and Warnez. Carolus and Johan Nicolaï, two fruit tree producers, were also there for the fourth time in a row. The Belgische Fruitveiling, Veiling Haspengouw, Veiling Hoogstraten and BelOrta were present with their own stalls. The Belgian pavilion is extended each year.

New stall

VLAM took part with a new stall concept. A clear and light structure in white, with a yellow accent - referencing the Flemish region - was combined with pretty product presentations. On top of the stall, the modern video montages provided the necessary dynamic. They attracted the attention to the products and emphasised the sector's advantages.

20 years of Flandria

Flandria, the quality label of fruit and vegetables, celebrated its 20th birthday last year. During this period Flandria has evolved from a niche label for tomatoes and chicory to one of the main players on the European fresh market. Flandria now bundles over 60 products and represents an annual production of over 600,000 tonnes. Fruit Logistica was the ideal moment to put the quality label in the spotlight. On Thursday 4 February the 20th anniversary was toasted with countless representatives of the Flemish auctions and export companies and foreign buyers.

Due to the importance of Fruit Logistica, participation in the next edition is a given for VLAM. 8 to 10 February 2017 have been noted in the diary.
