Chile and Tmall join hands to promote fresh fruits

Chilean Agriculture Minister Carlos Furche led a delegation to Hangzhou city in China, where they met Alibaba Group's leadership for an important meeting. The objective of the meeting was to further join promotion of Chilean products."The Chinese market has many opportunities," Furche said. He was very clear that China's e-commerce business is an important channel for marketing and promoting Chilean products.

On August 25, 2015, a special Chilean product week is launched through Tmall e-commerce channel, where all Chilean products can be directly sold to Chinese consumers. It is within such a context that ASOEX reached a special agreement with the Tmall, the most important e-commerce platform in China, to promote Chilean fruits. Moreover, ASOEX is the first Chilean private enterprise that signed the agreement with Ali Group.

This agreement aims to promote the direct sale of Chilean fruits in Chinese e-commerce channel, especially blueberries and cherriesASOEX said, China has become Chile's primary market in Asia and global market.

Between the year of 2014 and 2015, Chile has imported, in total, 103,081 tons of fresh cherries to different markets, where 85,013 tons were to Asia, and China is leading the way in terms of Chilean fruit consumption in Asia.
