Tender white onions with high sugar content
Cipolla Bianca di Margherita, the white onion of Margherita
The March variety is flatter, while the July onion is rounder. The onion tastes sweet, juicy and is crisp. The area where the onion is grown is located on the northeastern coast of Puglia in southern Italy at the foot of the Gargano between the Adriatic Sea and the saltpan of Margherita di Savoia Zapponeta and a part of Manfredonia. The “White onion of Margherita” has been grown in this area with the same production methods for three centuries.
