Spiessens has supplied various lines and machines this year. At the moment, a complete line for spinach is being built and the work is in full swing. Lieven Depreaetere, owner of the company, indicates that this line is being supplied completely new. “This line offers much more than the old one. The capacity is larger and it can process 10 tonnes per hour. There is also less waste, better hygiene, it’s all easier to clean and the company needs less staff.”
Active in the fruit and vegetable sector
Spiessens supplies to various sectors. The fruit and vegetable sector is an important buyer, both in fresh, frozen and conserves. “We offer transport systems, food processing systems, drying installations and machines for various products from root to leafy vegetables. Part of these are standard machines and lines, but are designed in conversation and to the wishes of the customer. Our customers are throughout Europe and further.”

Engineering
The company has over 100 years experience in total. “What defines us is engineering. We invested years into this and it is still an ongoing process. We can developed the complete product or system perfectly for the customer in 3D and make changes before the line is realized. Everything can be done to request down to the tiniest detail. The good thing is that we are a team with our customer during this process. They help us achieve a higher level by precisely indicating their desires. In the end our products aren’t developed by us, but by the customer themselves.” Investing in engineering is and was a large cost. “But the pros outweigh the cons, both for the customer and us. Risks are taken on the one side, but on the other we are cutting them out and supplying the perfect result.”
Complete solution
After development the machine is created. “We supply a complete package, even after building a machine. The customer doesn’t have to worry about the lay out, the transport to the company, the placing in the building and installation. These are all things Spiessens supplies a complete solution for. We take over these problems for the customer. Our machines and lines meet all demands in the area of hygiene and safety.”
Established value
Lieven Depreaetere looks back at 2015 with satisfaction. “Despite the fruit and vegetable market not always being rosy, we had good results. Both complete lines and renewals in current lines were supplied. Over the course of the years Spiessens has become an added value in the sector and purveyor of well known companies. The activities took place both among existing and new customers. We have built up long and sustainable relationships over the years and hope to continue to do this. Of course we will continue to supply the quality people are used to and will constantly look for innovations and ways to reduce water and energy usage. Spiessens aims for good lines with machines that are completely in sync!”
