First such port in Anhui province to open in November

China: opening new port facility for import fruit and veg

A new port facility in Anhui province, at the East coast of China, is being constructed to cater for the import of fresh fruit. The opening is planned for November 2015. It will be the first port in Anhui province that can receive fresh fruit and vegetables and as such a milestone.

The new port is located near Hefei, the capital of Anhui. Demand on the local market is expected to increase. Currently, fruit import into Anhui passes via Shanghai or Guangzhou.

The new port facility covers 3,500m², including a 300m² cold storage facility and a 3,000m² inspection and quarantine area. Total investment in the project reached 20 million Yuan.
