China: 18 million Yuan to support vegetable sales

The local government of Hefei in Anqui province has a scheme in place under which it financially supports local supermarkets to lower vegetable prices during national holidays. Since 2011, under this scheme, a total amount of 18 million Yuan has been paid to local supermarkets.

This year, during the Mid-Autumn festival and National Day, 165 supermarkets from 21 companies received money from the fund. As a result 20 vegetables were available at prices 15% lower than the market rate.
