5,000 hectares added in 2015

China: Pujian kiwi aims to become new global player

Pujian county has 6,700 hectares (100,000 mu) of kiwi plantations. In 2015, an additional 5,000 hectares (73,000 mu) were planted. Pujian is famous for three varieties: the golden Jinyan variety, the red hearted Donghong variety and the Hongyan. The season for all three runs from the end of August until October. The 2015 harvest is expected to reach 56,000 ton and a revenue of 600 million Yuan.

Pujian actively cooperates with New Zealand Zespri and American Cole. Its kiwis are exported to markets in Europe, Russia, Japan, Singapore and New Zealand. The county has began a marketing campaign to launch the "Pujian Kiwi" as a global player and is aiming for high-end brand recognition and top market sales.
