US (NJ): Ag dept reopens locally grown rule

NJDA has reopened its “locally grown” rule proposal in the NJ Register for an additional thirty-day public comment period that expires on October 8th. The purpose of this supplementary public comment period is “to solicit further comments specifically limited to the basis or rationale for comments that were received during the initial comment period concerning a perceived negative economic impact from the proposed new rules.”

The results of this additional public comment period will be eligible for consideration by NJDA staff and the State Board as they continue their broader review of the rule proposal. Rule proponents say it will safeguard consumer trust; critics dislike its cost and intervention.
