Gourmet Mushrooms expands Midwest, East Coast presence

Gourmet Mushrooms, one of the leading producers of specialty mushrooms in the United States, expanded their presence eastward this year with a new processing plant in Scottville, Michigan. That expansion will allow them to provide more of their specialty mushrooms more quickly to customers east of the Rockies.

“We are doubling our production of specialty mushrooms in 2015,” said Meg Hill of Gourmet Mushrooms. “We will continue to ship west of the Rockies from California, and the Michigan plant will deliver our East Coast and Midwest customers with a lot more mushrooms, and they will get there faster and fresher.” Gourmet Mushrooms' specialty varieties include Alba Clamshell, Brown Clamshell, Trumpet Royale, Forest Nameko, Velvet Pioppini, Nebrodini Bianco and Maitake Frondosa. They'll be promoting their line of mushrooms as first-time exhibitors at this year's PMA Fresh Summit in Atlanta, Georgia.

“We've been leaders in specialty mushrooms since 1977, and the specialty varieties have shown the most growth in the mushroom category,” said Hill. “For a couple of years now, we've just sold out, so we felt like we were large enough to participate as exhibitors this year.” You can visit Gourmet Mushrooms at this year's Fresh Summit at booth #674.
