Real plant grower
Dutch Specials presents the newest Dutch Specials growers, Eelco and Joost van Putten with their striking and innovative product the Flower Sprout. This is a new vegetable, a mix between sprouts and kale. The Flower Sprout has a mild flavour and has a lot of possibilities in the kitchen, such as steaming and wokking. There are delicious recipes available. Flower Sprouts are cabbage florets and look like small cabbages with green, ragged edges and purple stripes.
The agricultural company VOF van Putten has been in the Van Putten family's hands for five generations. Eelco: "When my great great grandfather started, there was still cattle and arable farming. Around 51 years ago we started growing sprouts. Over the last few years we have also actively started growing new products. We started growing not only Flower Sprouts, but also purple sprouts."
VOF van Putten is a nice addition to the current member base of Dutch Specials with their Flower Sprouts. Eelco van Putten: "We are always focussed on new varieties, taste, freshness, great quality and the customers wishes. This fits in well with Dutch Specials. Dutch Specials focusses on the out of home market. Our products are also interesting for this segment. We can also learn a lot from the other members and they can learn from our philosophy."
