Camposol

Peru: Mandarin production up 35%

The Mandarin harvest unfolded seamlessly in the agroindustrial company Camposol, which increased its production by 35% this year, i.e., more than 5,600 tons of this citrus.

101 hectares were harvested over the last three months. In this campaign, Camposol increased the number of jobs, so there were over 360 employees at the peak of the mandarin season.

In this regard, the Superintendent of production of Mandarin, Miguel Quiroz Rodas, said the crops had behaved appropriately, even though the meteorological factors were not the best, allowing the company to conduct the harvest within the established parameters.

Camposol exports its W. Murcott mandarin variety to the United Kingdom, China, the Netherlands, and Canada, markets that have had a sustained demand over time.

The average production per hectare was 56 tons, i.e. nearly 600 kilos of mandarin per worker during the harvest. Camposol crops are located in the district of Chao (province of Viru-La Libertad). The W. Murcott variety is a seedless mandarin that is easy to peel.

Results
Camposol Holding Ltd. sold 21,020 net tons during the second quarter of 2015, 33.9% less than in the second quarter of 2014, mainly explained by the deferred profits from avocado (which move to the third quarter of 2015), smaller volumes of asparagus and lower yields and prices of prawns.

The Holding also reported sales of 57.7 million dollars in the second quarter of 2015, 20.7% less than in the second quarter of 2014. The average cost of the products sold was 2.02 dollars per net kilogram, i.e. 56.6% more than in the second quarter of 2014, due to the smaller volumes of avocado, asparagus and prawns.
