Leaders of the Ministries of Industry and Trade of Vietnam and of Foreign Affairs of Peru signed an agreement on Sunday to establish the Intergovernmental Committee on economic affairs and technical cooperation.
The document will be a basis for the establishment of legal frameworks and mechanisms for cooperation between both countries in various fields, especially in economy, trade, agriculture and technical collaboration.
On this occasion, the Vietnamese delegation, composed of representatives of several portfolios, held a working meeting with the Peruvian delegation, in which they expressed their interest in exporting fruits, such as mango, litchi, longan, dragon fruit and rice to the Latin American country.
Peruvian officials expressed their desire to push forward negotiations with Vietnam regarding the quarantine that would allow the entry of their products into Vietnam, such as grapes, blueberries and avocados.
According to statistics, in 2014, Vietnamese exports to Peru amounted to $186.9 million dollars, 69.2 percent more than in the previous year.
