UK: Big demand for chillies

Chillies are in demand in UK just now, as it has been very hot in Spain which has affected supply and the supply from Holland is also down.

Martin Bond from The Wiltshire Chilli Farm said that the UK season is just getting starting and there is a good demand for the domestic crop.

The UK season is also running a bit behind schedule due to dull weather, which has contributed to the gap in the market.

The Wiltshire Chilli Farm grows 30-40 different varieties of chillies in around 2 acres of polytunnels, although they do supply the wholesale markets most of the production goes to their processing factory to produce a large range of sauces. The Wiltshire Chilli Farm is one the largest of chilli sauce producers in the UK.
