New Bio-fresh treatment unit for fruit and sorting company Pronk Zwaagdijk

Bio-Fresh is a product that is applied as a coating to the pears. This coating influences the gas exchange of the fruit which makes it ripen less quickly. This means that pears that were not quite ripe when picked can also ripen slowly. Burg Machinefabriek from Kruiningen has been involved in the development in machines to apply this coating since the introduction of Bio-Fresh. Experience shows that pears treated with Bio-Fresh can be displayed in supermarkets for around 4 to 5 days longer, so that they stay attractive and hard for the consumer for longer. Due to the treatment with this machine faraway sales markets such as China and the Middle East, which were barely or not at all possible, become accessible.

The Burg Machinefabriak Bio-Fresh treatment units have been integrated into the supply into the sorting machine. This way all the pears are treated. The machine recently supplied to Pronk Zwaagdijk is placed on two of the machines exits, in front of the packaging belts. The advantage of this is that it is a mobile and easy to implement machine, that only treats pears that are intended for a faraway destination or that customers want treated.
