Spain: Focus on Galia at Seminis melon field days

Last week and this week, Seminis organized personalized melon days for European key traders and retailers to showcase the current assortment and the future of the Galia, Cantaloupe segments along with future innovations.

Visitors were excited by the new introductions they were shown in the Galia segment, along withupcoming developments being launched by Seminis, with the focus of finding resistant varieties.

The event gave the opportunity for visitors to taste, experience the aroma, and receive shelf life information on the newest varieties, in combination with the personal taste experience in comparison with the current portfolio and the main standard varieties.

There was special attention paid towards SV5133MG, a Cyroline® Galia variety with a perfect match of size and taste for the medium and late segment.

The fruit specifications are :

Caliber- 1 kg/ fruit
Taste- 14,3 Brix
Shape- Round
Colour- Orange
Flesh colour- Green white
Firmness- 3,36 kg/ cm2

It was also good to see that the market leaders in the Galia segment, Edecos , Medallon and SV3218MG are performing well in the Murcia area. This was also recognized by the visitors.
