Favourite snack of German women

The increased demand for healthy food and stressful days are two reasons why German women eat more snacks. A new study by forsa shows that on stressful days German women either snack in between meals (45%) or replace meals with snacks (44%).

The survey results show furthermore that German women are increasingly conscious about there food. More than three-quarters of the respondents state that they find it important to have the right information and 86% claims to check the nutritional value of their daily food. But the study shows that stress has a lot of influence; 54% admits that they care less about the nutritional value when they are stressed.

Smart and carefree snacking
Based on these results keeping on a smart snack with many health benefits available could be a good solution, especially in stressful situations where a snack could improve performance. The snack should combine tasty and healthy ingredients and stave off hunger. And German women know what to choose: almonds. Due to the nutritional value almonds have changed from a typical cooking and baking ingredient to a delicious and nutritious snack. It is no surprise therefore that a large part of the respondents (80%) eat almonds as a snack, compared to the 0.5% who only use almond as an ingredient for cooking and baking. Why do they eat almonds? 77% says because of their taste, 55% because of the health benefits and 52% because of the bite.

Silke Kayadelen, nutritionist and fitness-coach, in a reaction on the results: "Almonds always have been a popular ingredient, but the results of the forsa study show that almonds found their way out of the kitchen and are perceived as an ideal alternative for a snack. "

It therefore is no reason not to consider almonds if you are looking for a snack. This nutritious nut combines important nutrients with an excellent flavour. And all this without feeling guilty!
