Peru: Asparagus exports recover, other products position themselves

According to the Civil Association Frio Aereo, so far this year the export of Peruvian products has been positive. Asparagus exports have recovered, and flowers, foliage, peas, mango, blueberry and pomegranate have been positioned in foreign markets.

Armando Grados, general manager of the association, said this was the result of the rise in demand for their services.

He explained that 2014 had been a record year for Frio Aereo, because they had moved a total of 103,000 tons, and achieved their biggest historical volume on October 12, when they attended 1,500 tons in one day.

On the other hand, Grados said they expected the space they would occupy during the construction works of the second runway at Jorge Chavez International Airport would soon be defined.

"We need to structure soon, along with the dealer, Lima Airport Partners and government institutions in the sector, the conditions for continuing and expanding the services we provide. In this case, it is important to promote dialogue via a working table," he said.
