The QS (Qualität und Sicherheit) standard for logistics, a quality scheme for food, was implemented on 1 January 2015 for logistics providers in the wholesale segment of fruit, vegetables, and potatoes, has been met with a positive response. About 200 logistics companies are currently registered with QS. The auditors are checking QS registered logistics companies that transport fresh produce, fruit, vegetables, and potatoes.

Two thirds of the logistics providers participate in the QS scheme with an existing IFS Logistics Certificate; the remaining third was certified directly via the QS-standard logistics. Wilfried Kamphausen, responsible for QS standard for fruit, vegetables, potatoes, is satisfied with the figures: "With the obligatory participation of transport companies, we have made an important contribution to the quality assurance, from farm to table, in the food retail sector. And further improved the product and hygiene practices and the traceability during transport."

Since the January 2015 logistics companies must be registered and approved in the QS database if they regularly transport fresh fruit and vegetables. The registered requirements of wholesale and logistics of fruits, vegetables, potatoes include all activities associated with road transport and short-term storage of the produce.
