Peru: Small break in avocado volumes

There could be less Peruvian avocados this season as ProHass has slightly reviewed their export forecast which is not expected to go over 175,000 tons, i.e. 15,000 tons less than the previous forecast and comparable to the 170,000 tons exported last year. But this is only expected to be a short break as acreage is increasing strongly. Today acreage reaches over 25,000 hectares. Importations into the European Community reached 100,000 tons last year but development strongly depends on arbitration with the American market.
