Brazil preparing for next melon season

After a successful season 2014/2015, Agricola Famosa is already preparing for coming season.

“As last season, we will arrive early again on the European markets. All areas look good and we are confident that volumes will exceed last years volumes, “ says Carlo Porro from Agricola Famosa.

"We invested a lot in new post harvest techniques and packing facilities to guarantee the right quality for all our customers. For sure , the weak Euro is causing some extra troubles for all exporters to Europe, but we see an increased demand from our European clients, so we are positive on the coming season."

"With the short transit times and the dry and warm weather conditions, we already saw last season that we can supply stable and constant qualities. However with these new investments we want to maximize quality and shorten the time between harvest and delivery."

"Cantaloupe and Galia are already well-known, but more and more people ask for the Charantais types and the mini watermelons. In general, we see that demand is increasing year by year, especially for freshcut industry growth rates are promising. However with the improved qualities, also retailers are more and more used to have melons in their assortment throughout the year. Melons are healthy and low-calorie fruit, consumers start recognising this."
