A&A Organic Farms starts tomato production in Baja

A&A Organic Farms is excited to announce that it has resumed its production of organic cluster tomatoes from Maneadero, Baja California.

A&A Organic Farms invested in a two hectare shade house on new ground last year but by the time the house was ready it was too late for a crop. “

As it turned out we ran out of summer days so we waited to plant our first crop in January of 2015” said A&A Organic Farms President, Andy Martin. "The tomatoes we are harvesting now are from that planting”.

At the same location A&A Organic Farms is also producing organic red mini roma tomato on the vine as well as organic zucchini. To be sure we have year round tomato production they are in the process of building a greenhouse at the same location for winter time production.

Mr. Martin also added “This second new structure will give us over two hectares of plastic protected agriculture for winter production of organic cluster tomatoes and red mini roma on the vine.”

In addition to the new production areas A&A Organic Farms also noted that over the past two years they have provided interest free loans to qualifying growers to enable them to become more sustainable. The monies are used for structures, equipment, water treatment improvements and cash flow. “I have learned that if I show some financial interest in a project just as a grower does it make us better partners for the long term. The growers know we are behind them and interested in their success too. Knowing who grows the food we sell and trusting that source is paramount for our business model.”
