Florida Citrus seeks agencies for seven-figure PR accounts
The department’s goal is to "maximize consumer demand for Florida citrus products to ensure the sustainability and economic well-being of the Florida citrus grower, the citrus industry, and the State of Florida," according to the RFP documents.
In 2013, Florida Citrus retained longtime incumbent agency Golin for its international PR account worth seven figures. Golin has worked on the business for more than a decade.

In the first request for proposal, Florida Citrus says it is seeking an agency partner that will focus on brand management, consumer engagement, paid media, and measurement. The budget will be approximately $3.3 million to $5.3 million annually for two years, with the option of up to three one-year renewals.
In the second RFP, the department asks for a firm that will concentrate on earned media, issues management, crisis communications, and media monitoring. The contract will be for two years with the option of up to three one-year renewals, with an annual budget between $2 million and $4 million.
The selected agencies will work as part of a team along with FDOC staff on an integrated media relations plan.
Proposals are due by May 22. Semi-finalists will pitch in early June, and Florida Citrus will award the contracts by August 1.
