Mexico: Michoacan is the leading agricultural producer in the country

The president of the National Agricultural Council, Benjamin Grayeb Ruiz, announced that Michoacan had become the leading agricultural producer in the country thanks to the efforts of the Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock, Rural Development, Fisheries and Food (SAGARPA). Grayeb Ruiz stated, in an interview at the end of the investiture of Jaime Rodriguez Lopez as the new Secretary of SAGARPA, that Michoacan's agricultural sector currently generated about 40,000 million pesos a year, which positioned it above Sinaloa, as it generates 30,000 million pesos annually.

"We rank first in several subsectors, such as in the production of avocado, berries, lime and tomato, which has helped position the state above the others," he added. Moreover, when asked about his view on the entrance of the new delegate of SAGARPA, it was said that this would be good for the agricultural sector because of the extensive experience that Rodriguez Lopez had.

"He is someone who knows the field as only a few do and he has a good relationship with the Mexican producers and the producers from Michoacan, Jaime is a lucky guy," he added. Grayeb Ruiz applauded the investiture and, on behalf of the National Agricultural Council, invited the new delegate to support SAGARPA's new upcoming projects.
