Marketing advisory board defines goals

Kartoffel-Marketing Gesellschaft incorporates operational activities

In March 2015, the group of shareholders of the Kartoffel-Marketing Gesellschaft mbH (KMG) was completed. After the official founding of the company in 2014, this was the starting shot for the incorporation of the operational activities of the KMG. Beside the founding companies, the German potato trading federation Deutschen Kartoffelhandelsverband e. V. (DKHV) is closing down the Landvolk Niedersachsen e. V. as representative for other interested farmer’s unions and the Bundesverenigung Erzeugergemeinschaften Kartoffeln e. V. as shareholder group of the KMG. KMG managing director Dieter Tepel praised the common entry of the branch as a condition for the success of the new company. The goal of the KMG is the furthering of the sales and public image of potatoes from Germany. “Only by concerted and goal-oriented action of all involved has the potato economy succeeded in creating a broad platform for communication and advertising for the valuable potato” says Tepel.

The central body of the KMG is the marketing advisory board. Here, the strategic orientation and the goals for the measures to further the public image and sales of potatoes are being voted on and determined. The members of the marketing advisory board represent the supply chain of potatoes: farmers, growers, traders, packagers, and processors all contribute their competencies. On the occasion of the constituent assembly of the marketing advisory board, Peter Schmitt (Pfälzische Früh-, Speise- und Veredlungskartoffel-Erzeugergemeinschaft w. V.), Werner Bosse (Landvolk Niedersachsen, Landesbauernverband e. V.) and chairman Martin Roffhack (RV Bank Rhein-Haardt eG, Zentrallager Beindersheim) were the chosen speakers. Roffhack emphasizes that it applied to building the many initiatives implemented in the framework of the campaign “Die Kartoffel, Voll Lecker (The potato, full of tasty)”. “Thanks to the support of the Landwirtschaftlichen Rentenbank as well as Land Nordrhein-Westfallen, the DKHV has been successfully active in the past years and has successfully established countless projects for furthering the image of potatoes. On this wealth of experience it builds up and expands with new strategies and measures”.

To that end, the marketing advisory board now takes on the strategic work aimed at the strengthening of our potato as a home grown product that is tasty, versatile healthy and reliable.
