All companies part of Gruppo Maddalo only buy certified GMO-free seeds and choose what clients prefer in terms of appearance, taste, shelf-life and resistance/tolerance. In addition, crops are located far from possible contaminated areas and precise quality management systems are employed.
The company also invested a lot to improve its infrastructures, work environment, relationships with clients, monitoring and control.
Field operations are managed with a software that collects information from production to harvesting and from packaging to sale.
Shelf-life is guaranteed by vacuum cooling, i.e. a quick cooling system that reduces enzymatic oxidation and the degrading action of micro-organisms, but also prevents wilting and fermentation. After this process, the produce is stored in cold storage units.
Salad is mainly sold loose but, upon request, trays and cardboard/polystyrene boxes are also available.
Variety, batch, packaging type, sowing and harvesting date, weight, etc. are indicated on the label to ensure complete traceability.
Its direct relationship with clients with no intermediaries enables the group to be very competitive price-wise. In addition, produce is supplied 12 months a year, logistic services can be organised and cold storage units are available. Maddalo Group also holds the GlobalGAP certification.
