Aldi Süd is planning to go to Italy, the Lebensmittel Zeitung reports. The discounter is currently doing extensive research into the Italian market. They see the country as having potential, but do not yet want to confirm that they will actually set up shop there. Italy is an attractive market for discounters. Initially, Aldi Süd would focus on the north of Italy, starting by taking over a local chain.
