Grower and environmentally friendly apple variety

Crimson Snow® branded apples make their entry in the market: 2 important German retailer are running a “limited edition” program for some weeks. Samples are going to the most important Italian retailer, all European markets, as well as in North Africa, Arabian countries and Asia.

“The apple comes from Australia”, explains CEO Jürgen Braun, “and is today grown on almost 100 hectares in Italy, in the places of our 3 licensed partner: Rivoira and Sanifrutta in Piedmont, Fratelli Clementi in various areas of Northern Italy, including South Tyrol (Bolzano) and an area near Venice, where ourselves planted 12ha.”
“Our growers are enthousiastic,” explains Luis Clementi, technical manager of Fratelli Clementi group. “as it is really grower friendly: it needs less work, it is environmental friendly, it´s picked almost in one go, has a very high packout, and is just perfect in storage. This gives our growers a very nice remuneration, important to have them producing quality fruits and be ready for innovations.”



Marco Rivoira, CEO of the Rivoira company, underlines: “Once on the shelf, this apples is like no other, keeping it´s characteristics for a long time. This makes the variety simply perfect for retailers, also because it does not bruise and is extremely easy in the handling. Obviously, the apple itself must be good, and I can tell you, it is: consumer tests speak about an acceptance of 9 out of 10. Consumer love the attractive crimson red over colour, the whity flesh, and the exotic taste. A great piece of fruit!”

Eraldo Barale, CEO of Sanifrutta: “Having such a long storage, this apple can be perfect for late season, when all other red apples are gone. We create our own space, and probably don´t necessarily need off season fruits. We want push our local product, in fact consumer are more and more asking our fruit and are sensitive to CO2 mileage and other environmental aspects.”

The group aims to plant totally 300ha in the next planting seasons, but there is already discussions to plan step2 of the masterplan with more plantings.

“It was important”, explains Richard Clementi, sales manager of F.lli Clementi, “to have important acreage done. We want achieve 10.000tons immediately, so we are able to make decent programs with our big clients. We have been involving them anyway very early in this brand and concept, so it´s years they know about it and couldn´t wait to get a first critical volume, which is the case in the current sales season with 1.200tons.”

Jürgen Braun: “We do act together, like a Family. Our KIKU global group´s experience shows that the choice of our Partners is vital, and we are careful. Big groups in Italy and France want to join. Serbia is our door to Russia, and we are close to announce a wonderful new entry."

The group wants to present a perfect apple to the consumer. "We are busy developing our promo plan to support the brand. Some ideas are already on www.crimsonsnow-apple.com. We are constituting the CRIMSON SNOW BRANDING company in charge of the promo and communication, it´s about having the consumer understand why we talk about a GREAT FEELING and he should choose our apple – we want to get fans! Today, with the first effort, the resales rates are extraordinary, consumer love the taste, means the apple speaks for itself, which makes retailer very happy. Their losses are also low, because of the characteristics of the apple. Just a perfect apple for them.”



Tests sites have been set up at Partner´s place in USA, Chile, South Africa and New Zealand, while in Australia there is almost 20 hectares of Crimson Snow® and fans already appreciate the apple since years.
