According to the Office of Agricultural Studies and Policies (PASO), in 2014, exports of organic products amounted to US $199.3 million, 12% more than the $178 obtained in 2013. This amount includes the wines made with organic grapes.
The exports of organic fruits and vegetables totalled 33,607 tons, worth $ 90.7 million, i.e. 45.5% of the total value.
Organic apple exports amounted to $43.9 million dollars, blueberries to 36.6 million, kiwi 7 million, grapes 2 million and avocados $ 422,000.
Shipments of frozen organic products reached 10,094 tons worth $46.4 million dollars, with blueberries leading sales ($19.2 million), followed by raspberries ($8.4 million), blackberries ($6.2 million), strawberries ($2 million) and asparagus ($0.6 million).
Meanwhile, exports of dried organic products totalled 591.6 tons, worth $3 million dollars and were led by plums ($1.35 million), apples ($1.35 million), raspberries (0.32 million), blueberries, strawberries and quinces.
Exports of organic processed products reached 785.8 tons ($11.8 million), led by rosehip oil ($3.1 million), fresh or dried Boldo leaves ($0.3 million) and fresh or dried chamomile ($0.2 million), among others.
