The PGI Valencian Citrus has reached an agreement with the supermarket chain Carrefour France for the introduction into its product range of Valencian organic citrus through SOLAGORA (subsidiary of ANECOOP for organic products). With this, the retailer confirms its commitment to the mass distribution of organic products with a certified origin.
As explained by the Managing Director of the PGI Valencian Citrus, José Enrique Sanz, "with this agreement, the distribution of organic Valencian citrus will be strengthened. Sales will be carried out mainly in the regions of Brittany and Normandy. The operator responsible for the handling is the Bélgida Cofrudeca Cooperative, Coop. V., under the brands Bio Oranges and Bio Clementines. As pointed out by Anecoop, a total of 500,000 kilos have already been processed under these two brands so far this season."
Furthermore, Sanz also stated that "it is clear that marketing certified organic citrus attached to a brand with such international prestige as Valencian Citrus can really help in boosting consumption in France. With this agreement, there are already four large distribution chains, both domestic and international, that are committed to products with this certified origin, and which attach the PGI label to their own packaging. It is a great satisfaction for our Regulatory Board that the uniqueness and quality of Valencian citrus is starting to be recognised by large chains."
