Landgard: new apple concept

Landgard has introduced the 'Frag den Apfel' (ask the apple) concept at Fruit Logistica. This mobile website, developed for consumers, offers information regarding different apple varieties. For instance, which varieties are suitable for baking and cooking, German website Taspo.de reports.

The mobile website can be visited directly by scanning the QR code on the apple label. That way, customers in the store can read how various varieties taste, what countries the apples originate from, and what apple is best suited to what application. There are also recipes available for things like apple pie and fruit salad.

Another concept introduced by Landgard is 'Deutschland schmeckt' (Germany tastes good). This campaign wants to increase the value of German fruit and vegetables, and promote sales. 'Deutschland schmeckt' also meets the consumer's demand for more information on the origin of food, Landgard says. Domestic products should be recognizable by the 'Deutschland schmeckt' logo on the label, as well as a QR code. With this QR code, consumers can use their smartphone to look up background information on the campaign.
