Peru: Beta expects to export 14,350 tons of grapes
According to Lionel Arce Orbegoso, CEO of Agro-industrial Complex Beta, expectations are that the company will have exported 14,350 tons of table grapes worth 36 million dollars by the end of the 2014/2015 campaign, which began in October and ended in late January.
According to him, estimates are the company will have exported 13,120 tons (1,600,000 boxes of 8.2 kilos each) of the Red Globe variety amounting to $32 million dollars, and 1,230 tons (150,000 boxes) of the Thompson Seedless and Crimson Seedless varieties, amounting to US $4 million.
He said the Red Globe grapes were mainly destined for China, followed by the United States, Europe (mainly England) and some countries in Southeast Asia. The average price per box was $20 dollars.
Meanwhile, the seedless varieties were shipped to countries in Europe, most of the shipments were concentrated in England. The average price of the seedless varieties was above $30 a box.
