France: is the price of chipping potatoes increasing?

In France, the potatoes that are used to make french fries are stored quite poorly. Because of this, higher prices are now expected, reports the German Agrarmarkt Informations-Gesellschaft (AMI) (Agricultural Market Information Company) on their website. But the very smooth process through which the potatoes run has resulted in a better balance between demand and supply.

On the other hand, on the consumption side there is a lack of good arguments for higher prices. Export does not meet the expectations and domestic demand is rather limited. Foreign buyers, from Spain and Eastern European countries, haggle over prices.
