Bright future for ancient fruit

One of the seven ancient biblical species, the pomegranate's health qualities might well make it the fruit of the future. Pomegranates are round with hard red skin and hundreds of translucent crimson-coloured small edible seeds. One pomegranate delivers 40% of an adult's daily vitamin C requirement and is also a rich source of polyphenols, a powerful antioxidant.

According to the exhibitor, recent research has shown that pomegranates may slow the growth of prostate cancer and may be effective in preventing other cancers. Galilee explains that its juicy, premium-quality pomegranates (image) come from Israel's best growers. They are shipped directly from Israel and are available from August to December.

Galilee will present its pomegranates to a global audience of industry professionals for the first time at Fruit Logistica 2015.
