"Traders are having difficulties"

Price of Polish apples decreased hugely

Kmera Maciej has been working for Bronisze for years. This is the Warsaw wholesale market. He indicates that the Polish traders are struggling, mainly due to the Russian embargo. "We are seeing significantly less turnover, sometimes even 90% less. All companies are bothered by it, but mainly companies who re-export fruit and vegetables from Mediterranean countries to Russia."

Prices dropped to 19 cents
"The price of the Polish apples has decreased hugely. Last spring the price was still 1.5 to 2 zloty (36 cents to 48 cents) and this has now dropped to 0.8 zloty to 1.2 zloty (19 cents to 29 cents). In recent years Polish fruit growers exported fruits and vegetables to Russia from the end of February, especially apples, onions, cabbage and carrots. We will have to wait and see how it turns out with the Ukraine," says Maciej.

Some prices of random products:

The average market price for Conference is 66 cents. What is striking is the price increase for broccoli at 20%. The current average price of broccoli is 72 cents a piece. A kilo of sauerkraut is 48 cents, carrots over 14 cent per kilo. Laid cucumbers are 96 cents per kilo.
