Domingo Penate, Anaco Greeve:

"Spanish iceberg lettuce season started with high prices"

The Spanish iceberg lettuce season has started with strikingly high prices. And this hasn't always been the case over the last few years. "The market is good. There's not that much product available. There is still a little Dutch iceberg lettuce on the market, but the quality can't beat the Spanish supply," says Domingo Penate of Anaco Greeve.

The cultivation in Spain is a lot lower this year as a result of the weaker past season. "It has been warm in Spain but it is starting to cool down now and this is benefiting the quality," says Domingo. "Over the next two weeks I expect these good prices to remain, but what happens after that depends on the Spanish supply."
