Légulice to produce their own mushrooms in France

Légulice commercialises fresh French mushrooms under the brand “Lou” in supermarkets. The company has a €11 million turnover, 6 employees and will soon be producing their own mushrooms in Poilley (Ile-et-Vilaine).

National production is insufficient, so “we were sellers and we wanted to become producers” explains Fabrice Chapuzet, Director General of Légulice. Due to local support the production can start rapidly. The construction of the 9,700m2 factory in Poilley will end in spring 2015. France’s second largest fresh mushroom professional will be able to produce 3,000 tons in 2015 and up to 4,500 tons the year after.

Légulice hope to employ 80 people over the next few months. They also plan to build a second site in the South of France, aiming to be France’s mushroom leader in three years time.
